Hello, I am Helena from Germany and very excited to work a few months at Hub Feenix Residency. My former stays in Finland sparked my enthusiasm for the country. I wish to deepen this connection and to network with other artists during my time in the residency. Mostly, I work with oil painting, animation and installation. A central theme of my artistic work is the (mis-)relationship and interdependence between humans of our society and the environment / nonhuman life. I like to explore different ways of living, in the sense of socio-ecological transformation. During the residency, I would like to explore the local environment and experiment with plants and materials to create my own natural painting materials and further develop my artistic techniques.
Also, I would like to reflect on my role as an artist in the context of the environmental crisis while developing my work further in a calm and inspiring surrounding.
