My name is Joanna, and I am a multidisciplinary artist from Berlin, Germany.

Religion has been a formative topic in my life since childhood, as I am baptized, confirmed, and now an ex-church member. Even as a child, I felt the oppressive weight of the wooden cross hanging above the kitchen table during my weekly visits to my great-grandmother, while enjoying her beloved buttered noodles. In my paintings, installations, and sculptures, I address socio-critical themes with personal references. I view not only the final result, but also the creative process itself, as a personal performative act and an important component of my artistic expression.
